Eden - the local, indigenous beer

Over the past year, a team of students, brewers, farmers, and community members have been working together on developing a 100% Western PA grown indigenous beer. An indigenous beer as defined by the Great American Beer Festival is a beer "made wholly unique by use of multiple local ingredients and/or techniques, with the resulting beer being highly representative of location." Eden is the name of the beer that the team developed to commemorate the Chatham University Eden Hall campus where much of the ingredients were sourced.

Local Beer Release Party

On Monday, May 19th from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Eden will be released to the public in the Hop Garden at Church Brew Works in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Come join us in celebrating this community-inspired, locally sourced indigenous beer! To receive a free ticket to the event please email edenhops@gmail.com.

Grow Local. Brew Local.

To highlight the process of brewing the beer Elisa Loeser, a graduate student at Chatham University made a film about the local beer and about her perspective throughout the journey. This medium is a "digital story." Enjoy!
